City of Carugate
In order to introduce energy efficiency measures and renewable energy technologies as standard and mandatory solutions for new buildings and to stimulate the replication in other municipalities, the municipality of Carugate adopted a new building regulation which promotes energy efficiency in general. Specifically, according to Barcelona’s “Solar Ordinance” model, the use of solar thermal systems to produce at least 50% of the domestic hot water demand was introduced as a mandatory measure for new buildings.
