Open Days 2010 - 8th European Week of Regions and Cities

4-7 October 2010, Brussels, Belgium, and locally throughout Europe

Since 2003, the OPEN DAYS - European Week of Regions and Cities, have become an annual key event at which cities and regions showcase their capacity for creating growth and jobs, implementing European Union cohesion policy, and proving the importance of the local level for good European governance.

Conceived and developed by the EU Committee of the Regions and the European Commission, Directorate-General for Regional Policy, this communication platform regularly enlists loyal support from thousands of local, regional, national and European decision-makers and experts, whose achievements have been manifold in the areas of economic success and social integration, co-operation between regions, fruitful public-private partnerships at local level, and with research centres and universities.

Around 100 seminars, workshops and debates plus exhibitions and networking opportunities will take place again, organised in partnership with regions and cities from all over Europe, and including contributions by companies, banks and international associations and academic organisations.

Action plans and pilot actions have been adopted

The six European Cities participating in POLIS have committed on long-term strategies to integrate solar energy at urban level in solar Action Plans and Pilot Actions embedded in local planning. The best practice guide is now available

The POLIS consortium has edited a Manual of Best Practices on Solar Urban Planning, a state of the art assessment where best Practices are presented in the most diverse areas, from targets definition, to legal framework and policies, mobilization of solar potential and active implementation of urban planning measures.

Solar Meetings : when solar innovations meets building industry !

The fifth ENERGY FORUM on Solar Building Skins is taking place on the 2nd and 3rd of December 2010 in Bressanone, Italy.

The aim of the ENERGY FORUM is to contribute to a multidisciplinary, integrated planning approach among architects, engineers, scientists, energy managers and manufacturers, to reduce energy consumption while improving the comfort and health of the building’s occupants.

“Bauhaus.SOLAR” 2010 : Architecture today : Reality and vision

The third “Bauhaus.SOLAR” congress is taking place on the 10th and 11th of November 2010 in Erfurt, Germany. The congress is meant to be a dialogue between solar industry and architecture. Third edition of the Parisian days for energy and climate, October 2010, 16th and 17th

An annual event in Paris to fight together against climate change

This annual event labelized Energy days (EUSEW), is for the City of Paris the opportunity to mobilize all stakeholders – local councillors, citizens, economic actors, associations, experts, institutions - on the issue of climate change.

For their third year, Paris energy and climate days will be held on 16th Saturday and 17th Sunday October 2010, in Parc de Bercy (12th arrondissement), and across the capital, around the theme “The robustness of the territories, adaptation to climate change”.

Third edition of Solar Event Family from 4 to 6 June at Savoie Technolac

The purpose of the event Solar Event Family is to promote solar energy and popularize its uses. 3 days to discover various activities, visits, exhibitions, conferences, solar vehicles races, etc.

KIDS : a space of 600 m² dedicated to children : planetarium, interactive exhibitions, workshops about photovoltaic and thermal technologies, construction of an ecological village, etc. EXPO : more than 50 certified exhibitors (Qualisol, QualiPV, smart buiding, etc.) specialised in renewable energies. CHALLENGE : race of small remote-controlled vehicles and endurance race of solar prototypes INNOVATION : discover new solar objects that could make part one day, of our daily life (fashion, mobility, leisures...) and their inventors. Organizations supporting developing countries in solar technologies applications. DEMONSTRATION : organised visits of the several experimental platforms (housing, mobility...) of the National Institute of Solar Energy, and presentation of the Armadillo Box ® the French passive energy house prototype, which will participate to the international contest : the Solar Decathlon in Madrid June 2010. LOUNGE : come and relax with the "solar groove mobil" (music box working with solar energy), book shop and meetings, etc. LIVE : media space, radio, TV, social networks.
